David Beckham


As a co-founder of Beckham Gumbin Ventures, Mr. Beckham brings a background in development, repositioning and asset management to the BG-Ventures team. Mr. Beckham is practiced in identifying and conceiving unique development and asset management strategies, managing relationships with government entities, underwriting, financing, constructing, and operating both real estate assets and companies.

Prior to founding Beckham Properties, which has now become Beckham Gumbin Ventures, Mr. Beckham spent fourteen years with Westcor Partners and its affiliated companies, including ten years as a Managing Partner.  Prior to Westcor’s sale to Macerich (NYSE: MAC) in 2001, it was the predominant regional mall developer in the Southwest.  In 1991, Mr. Beckham was the lead partner responsible for the creation and initial $117 million capitalization of Westcor’s high-end resort company, Carefree Resorts. In 1998, Mr. Beckham and his partners sold Carefree Resorts to Patriot American Hospitality, a publicly traded REIT then listed on the NYSE.

Following his Westcor and Carefree Resorts partnerships, Mr. Beckham  formed Beckham Properties, a real estate investment and development company that  developed  and acquired numerous master plan community, retail, and office projects. The first of these was a 380-acre development known as The Meadows Del Mar in which the initial capital partner was Patriot American Hospitality.

Mr. Beckham received his B.S. “With Highest Distinction” from the University of Arizona and his J.D. from The University of Pennsylvania School of Law (Law Review and Editorial Board honors).  Mr. Beckham is a member of the State Bar Association of Arizona, and has served on numerous advisory and corporate boards, including National Bank of Arizona, Jokake Construction Company,  First National Bank of Arizona, Advanced Boring Technologies, The Nature Conservancy, and the Governor of Arizona’s Sports Stadium Commission. Mr. Beckham is an honorary member of the Air Force 62nd Fighter Squadron.
